Respect For Origin

FIRMA’s essence focuses on its origins. The cultivation and harvesting process is carried out by local people from the region who know, understand and respect the grapes.
Loyalty and zeal for the authenticity of terroirs and dedication to the development of sustainability are enshrined in wines that reflect the quality and typicality of the regions.

The Process

Built from scratch in 2022, FIRMA wine cellar used excellent equipment to benefit the winemaking process globally.
FIRMA winery, in São João da Pesqueira, is fully equipped with the most modern equipment – cold chamber, robot treading, hydraulic presses, modern refrigeration system, French oak barrels from the best cooperages.

Vinification

The careful selection begins when the grapes are manually harvested from the vineyard. Transport to the winery is done in small 12 kg boxes. Before entering the cellar, the grapes pass through the sorting table with its vibrating mechanism. At this point, scrupulous selection of the berries is ensured, which are then de-stemmed and crushed. The grapes go to the granite presses followed by skin maceration.

Sustainabiity

Sustainability is a concept that the FIRMA takes as a priority.
FIRMA’s vineyards, located in a unique terroir, allow the existing ecosystem and biodiversity to be respected.
The ecological corridors that emerge naturally allow for diversity in fauna and thus avoid the use of chemical substances.
A selection of long-cycle invasive herbs is made to limit competition with the vine and not compromise its vegetative growth in a balanced way.
At the winery FIRMA doesn’t carry out major operations or additions. We let the grape show its authenticity, its origin and we respect as much as possible what we obtain from the different vineyard plots in each wine year.
This whole way of looking is a reflection of an enormous respect for nature and all the passion and dedication with which the wines are created.
Our medium-term objective is to convert all production to organic production.
